Raise a stink for Christ
Here's an interesting article. I can't condone the San Franciscan (wow, that's ironic, isn't it) officials' attitude, but I can't help but think the Christians aren't accomplishing anything either.
Sometimes I just have to get something off my chest. So why inflict it on the whole world, you might ask? Why not, I might reply.

I agree, Craig. I don't know what such a demonstration thinks it will accomplish. I suppose they are more optimistic than I am. The only good thing that I can think could come of this is starting a very small conversation about how decadent pop culture is. This would only be good if that conversation grew to the extent that the media considers it thier loss to continue broadcasting sex and violence. I just don't think this will happen. Our freedom of speech is our most precious freedom and as long as there are pagans in the world, the world will glorify paganism.
Now, if the movement does nothing more than convince some of these teens to refrain from engaging in pop culture, then we might have a stronger church in the future.
As for the political leaders of San Fransisco: so much for freedom and political correctness.
Yeah, I agree that we should always confront the evil we see in our culture, and I suppose even if one person is affected in a good way it's worth it. These big public protests almost always turn into shouting matches, though, and I just think these guys' time would be better spent in thoughtful conversation one-on-one with people willing to listen. In a way that's the best thing about the Internet: You can put down a thoughtful argument for anyone in the world who can find it to read and respond if they want. It's better than screaming in the street.
BTW, I tried to send you something else for SouthernOrthodoxy, but it may not have made it.
But I'm also frustrated that the very people who take to the streets in righteous indignation whenever anything goes against them say those same tactics are disgusting when their political opponents use them. I still can't get over this quote: (Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco) told counterprotesters at City Hall on Friday that while such fundamentalists may be small in number, "they're loud, they're obnoxious, they're disgusting, and they should get out of San Francisco." But I guess being frustrated by the world is a good thing.
